Who We Are
A Real Maine Motel, Run by Real Maine People
The Machias River Inn has been welcoming guests since 1988. We're not a chain. We're not a boutique hotel with a lifestyle brand. We're a well-kept, renovated motel on a beautiful river, run by people who know and love this corner of Maine.
The Inn has always been rooted in the belief that genuine hospitality means knowing your guests, knowing your region, and giving people what they actually need — a clean room, a comfortable bed, a great view, and someone at the desk who can tell you exactly where to go and what to see.
Our staff knows Washington County inside and out. When you call to book or stop by the front desk, you're talking to someone who genuinely cares whether you have a good time here.
"Our goal is to provide you a most comfortable stay and efficient service, with the added benefit of native hospitality and knowledge. We are happy to help make suggestions, give directions, and make sure you look forward to returning to our beautiful area."

Renovated. Ready. Right on the River.
Over the years the Inn has been continuously updated — new rooms, new finishes, modern amenities — while keeping the thing that made it worth coming to in the first place: the river.
All 38 rooms have been renovated. Most have direct views of the Machias River. Every room has flat-screen TVs, mini fridge, microwave, Keurig coffee maker, free high-speed WiFi, and daily housekeeping. We offer everything from standard rooms to full apartment suites with complete kitchens — the right fit for a one-night stop or a week-long Bold Coast adventure.
We share a parking lot with Helen's Restaurant, Machias's most beloved institution. The Sunrise Trail runs directly across the street. Bad Little Falls is a 15-minute walk. In every direction from your room, there's something worth seeing.
