Helen's is right in the Machias River Inn parking lot. You can walk from your room in under a minute. The menu runs from fresh-caught haddock and lobster rolls to burgers, chowder, and comfort food done the Maine way. The staff have been there for years. It feels like someone's kitchen — because it basically is.
"Death by Pie." That's their slogan, printed on the t-shirts. The wild blueberry pie — made with local berries when in season — has earned national recognition. The coconut cream in a graham cracker crust has its own devoted following. Don't leave without a slice. Or two.
