Book Puffin Tours Early
Bold Coast Charter Company's trips to Machias Seal Island sell out weeks in advance during peak season (June–August). If puffins are on your list, book before you book your room.
Blueberry Festival is August
The Machias Wild Blueberry Festival runs for three days in August and is one of the best times to visit. Rooms fill up — book ahead if your trip overlaps with the festival weekend.
Gas Up Before Cutler
The drive out to Cutler Coast is stunning but remote. Fill up in Machias before heading east — services are sparse once you leave Route 1.
